I just picked up an old all original 1983 Supercat 17. Wondering what people have done to upgrade this old boat? It has the Cable traveler and rope rudders. I would like to make her more current. Overall she is in good order with the exception of the gelcoat. I'm a Boston Whaler dealer and will have the hulls brought back to life but would like some additional input on rigging.
Thanks

Re: New - old 1983 Supercat 17
Hello,
The cable traveler was replaced in 1984 with a Harken traveler. The old traveler system worked and I don't know that it would be necessary to convert it, but it could be done. The rudder system has remained almost unchanged over the years, the general mechanics of the system remains the same.
The biggest changes were with the construction of the hulls and the sails. Square top main sails and self-tacking jibs are common place on the newer boats and many people have upgraded their older boats.
