Source for batten caps / tips

Post by rexicon »

One of my batten caps is mangled - the one that slips into the batten pocket at the luff. I'm struggling to find ANYTHING online that looks like it will work except this one: http://bainbridgebattens.com/node/4

Unfortunately they don't sell to the public. Does anyone have an insight please? It's an old school round batten that tapers down to 1/4" at its thinnest.

Rexicon,

The paddle tip was unique to SuperCat and is no longer produced, instead we have a shrink cap that goes over them to protect the sail. We also no longer use the adjustable tensioner on the leech end of the batten, but we do have a tip that goes on there with a hole in it so you can thread the batten tie through it and tension the batten. If your looking for tips give Tom a call at 651-462-SAIL.

I am not too sure about using the Bainbridge tip that you found. We have looked at these in the past and my feeling is that it is too bulky and will end up spreading the batten pocket/cap open, I think your better off with the shrink tip we currently use.
