Diamond spreaders necessary?

Diamond spreaders necessary?
I have an SC 19 project boat I'm working on with no diamond spreaders on the mast. I see a previous post that this is the same mast (28-footer) as on the SC 17 that used no diamond spreaders. I'm not a cat racer, and have no plans to be competitive, so how necessary is it to have diamond spreaders on my rig?

Hello,
I would recomend putting spreaders on your mast.
Although the mast is the same length, the sail area and loads are more on the SC 19. In the long run the spreaders are a cheap insurance policy.
