My leward rudder was kicking up for no apparent reason yesterday.
I sailed for about an hour with th e spi up with no issues at all. We doused the spin as we had to head up and all of the sudden the leward rudder let go. Since we were flying the WW hull we were without steering and consequently capsized.
We had plenty of water so it was not contact with the bottom.
After nthe capsize, the leward rudder cam up at leasr 7 times in the next 25 miles. This has never happened before, what is the problem and solution?
Thank you for you thoughjts,
E

Re: Rudder Issue
Eric,
Sounds like the springs might be weak. Have you ever replaced them? They can get stretched out over time and need to be replaced. There could be some other issues, but I would start by looking at the springs, they are usually the culprit.
