Newbie Question Who built and when was my SC15 made.

Greetings from OK I have a SC15 for which I am seeking information. The VIN is GSN00401M81B
Was this made in 1981? As far as I can determine there were but two manufactures, but who is the manufacturer "GSN"
in the VIN? Would like to hear from any other Supercat owners in Oklahoma or Arkansas
Thanks. Ray

I don't recognize the HIN that you reference. Is that number molded into the hull or is it on an metal plate that is affixed to the hull? If it is molded into the hull then it is the hull mold number not the HIN or MIC which is the marine industry equivalent of a VIN.
If the SC15 was built in 1981 then it would have been built by Boston Whaler.

Thank you for your response! The number I gave is moulded into the hull, so this is apparently the mould number. I see no other numbers molded in or any other tags affixed anywhere, nor any sign of anything removed, covered over, or destroyed. It appears to be all the original paint. Can anyone help me with information about this mould number which would help me identify when this Cat15 was made??
Most importantly, there are some rigging parts missing. Were there any major structural changes through the years which could require a different set of rigging? I am good at improvising fitting so this is not a big problem actually.
Thanks!

Ray,
Off hand I don't recall how to exactly decipher the mold number, but I am 99% certain that the 81 is the year the hull was built. What is the number molded in the other hull? What is your sail number? You can also check for the serial number plate riveted to the main beam, on the rear side right by the mast pedestal.
With regards to rigging, very little changed on the SC15 over the years. A couple of areas of change that I can think of were with the Cable versus Harken main traveler and design of the main hounds going from the stamped single hole design to the heavier double hole welded design. None of these things should present any issues with regards to parts, although when ordering parts they might have some questions that you will have to answer so we can make sure you get the right thing.

Hi!
Thank you for your information. I've look over both cross beams and there is not tag or other markings to be found. The main cross beam has a couple of large stickers, now faded, which have something to say about right of way on the water, on the one ,and I cannot read the other at all.
