two or three notch rudders

I picked up a third set up rudders my 1st and 2nd set have two notch's in them . this third set has three. was this a design change should i consider adding the third notch.?

Andrew,

The third notch was in the original set of rudder molds from the the late 1970's. Boston Whaler quit using these in the early 1980's. The third notch was there to provide a 1/2 way down position for going in and out of the surf. I have never used any rudders with then so I don't know how well they worked, but in any case I would advise against modifying your other rudders as I think it will cause more problems then benefits.

matt, thanks i guess i will recond them and save them for future use or something thanks again.
