Ok, I received the pigtail, and I swapped around the furler swivel and the jib halyard pulley. So, as you can see from my picture, the set up is: masthounds, pigtail, swivel, halyard pulley, forestay cable. Allright, I thought all was good, and raised the mast. Now I had WAY too much slack in the ma...

Rigging the forestay
I just about have the SC 17 together. Raised the mast last night and attempted to put the jib up. However, as I pulled the rope down the jib did not go far enough to the top. The cable end was still a foot or so up in the jib. I'm not sure I have things mounted correctly up at the mast. I included a...

Hey folks, I have both booms mounted and the cat sitting upright. I have the tramp mounted, but not laced. My manual contradicts my setup, as my tramp only laces around the forward boom, as the aft, port and starboard sections are in guides. What type and size line is used to lace the tramp. This li...

SC 17 assembly
Ok, we're ready to put it together. Hopefully I'll have help tomorrow, but in the mean time I thought I would get the beams mounted, and maybe the tramp set. Anything an SC 17 newbie should do here. I have the owners manual but the it doesn't really address a complete assembly for a Cat that has bee...

Forward tramp on an SC17
I have an older SC17 that I'm getting ready to assemble, and was wondering if this cat will accept a forward tramp. My reasoning is that I can put a couple more folks on board for a light-wind cruise, etc...

I have a total of 1800 invested in the Cat. I paid the seller 1100 and it cost me 700 to have it shipped. The Cat I bought included the trailer, and I traded that back to the seller in return for him builiding and crating the Cat, and delivery to the shipping depot in Oakland, CA. Where is the Cat i...

Volvo Extreme 40 race
WOW folks. I happened to be here in Baltimore on a 2-day staying at the inner harbor, and had the opportunity to watch the Volvo Extreme 40 race yesterday. Holy shit, these Cats are really something. I had never seen a boat like this up close before. The mono's leave today for Annapolis and start le...
